The School of Technology and Management (ESTG) of the Polytechnic of Leiria, organizes the 2nd International Conference on Quality Innovation and Sustainability – ICQIS2020 – in Leiria, Portugal.
The conference will take place online, on 19th and 20th November 2020.
The ICQIS Conferences have been a meeting forum for researchers and interested professionals on the Quality and Innovation, with special focus on Sustainability.
The main aim of the ICQIS2020 is the dissemination of knowledge and the exchange of good practices among researchers and professionals in these domains.

The conference will be held online using the Zoom platform. Sessions will be divided as follows:
Plenary sessions – live or pre-recorded presentations from keynote speakers, for all conference participants.
Topic sessions – live or pre-recorded presentations from authors, for the specific topics of the conference.
Posters sessions – PDF posters will be available on the conference website. Optionally, authors can submit a short (5 slide) presentation, with or without audio comments.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Gilberto Santos
Gilberto Santos holds an Aggregation (DSc) title in Industrial Engineering from de New University of Lisbon and a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Minho University, Portugal.
He is Professor at the Polytechnic Institute Cávado Ave (IPCA), Barcelos, Portugal, where he founded a master’s course on “Integrated Management Systems QES (Quality, Environment and Safety) and was the director of it for 7th editions.
He participates as a Speaker in several national and international conferences and is the author of several publications and reviewer for International Journals. He is a member of Editorial Review Board of TQM Journal.
His research interests are quality, innovation and sustainability.

António Vasconcelos
António Vasconcelos is a business strategist with more than 30 years of experience, and a former international Vice-President of Oliver Wyman. He founded NEW-NEXT, an advisory boutique to support the 360º transformation of medium-sized businesses in Portugal.
Having got an awakening in 2010 to the need to develop business models within social and environmental limits, he joined and currently coordinates the board of directors of The Natural Step International, a Swedish born NGO that is known for a framework defining sustainability, and backcasting from there. Esporão is an example of a business in Portugal for whose leadership he helped design a masterplan guided by systems thinking and sustainability, which is considered a world case study in wine.
More recently, Antonio joined Planetiers to create an international event in Lisbon attended by more than 10.000 people online per day and a 2030 disruptive transformation program for the decade in Portugal.
He has an MBA (Nova SBE) and a degree in Management (Católica Lisbon).

Kristina Zgodavova
Prof. Ing. Kristina Zgodavova, PhD. is one of the leading Slovak experts in the field of quality engineering and management.
She worked as a project manager in an engineering organisation and later served as vice-rector for strategy and development at the Alexander Dubček University in Trenčín.
At present, she is a full professor at the Technical University of Košice, guarantor of Integrated Management Systems and Quality Engineering study programs, adviser of the working group of the Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education, and editor-in-chief of the Quality, Innovation, and Prosperity journal. In these roles, she deals mainly with improving education quality. She is the author of three monographs, many textbooks, and teaching aids, leads several projects, and participated in the development of curricula and textbooks for quality management courses in various fields of the industry and services.

Plenary Lectures will address topics of importance in the fields of Quality, Innovation and Sustainability.

SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION
Submissions
For all sessions, authors should submit an abstract (1 page) of their work using the EasyChair Platform. Except for keynote speakers, when submitting the abstract, authors must indicate whether they will participate with an oral presentation or in the poster’s sessions.
Upon acceptance and peer-reviewing, abstracts will be made available as a book of abstracts (with an ISBN number) to each participant at the conference registration.

Proceedings
Optionally, authors can later submit an extended abstract (4 pages) that includes further details about their work. Upon acceptance and peer-reviewing, manuscripts will be published in Proceedings (ISSN 2504-3900, indexed at DOAJ – Directory of Open Access Journals, CLOCKSS (Digital Archive), e-Helvetica (Swiss National Library Digital Archive), Google Scholar, J-Gate (Informatics India)) from MPDI (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/proceedings) and be made available to authors after the conference.
Publication on a Special Issue
Authors are also encouraged, optionally, to submit a full conference paper of 8-12 pages. Abstracts (1 page) should be submitted using the MS Word Template or the Latex Template. In either case, an abstract with up to 500 words, plus references, is requested.

Posters
Authors should upload posters according to the template. Submission is made through the EasyChair Platform. Optionally, authors can submit a short video or presentation (5 slides) to be included on the conference website during poster sessions. These can be sent by e-mail.

International Conference on Quality Innovation and Sustainability – ICQIS2020 will be held at the School of Technology and Management (www.ipleiria.pt/estg) of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, which is located near the center of the town.
